A Couple of Sketches

Happy Friday!

Sorry I didn't share a creation yesterday, my son stayed home sick from school and was diagnosed with Strep again and so all my plans went right out the window! He's feeling better today, but boy and am I happy it's FRIDAY! What a week! Very much looking forward to the weekend. Tomorrow I'm heading out with the girls to a local scrap book convention. Hopefully we'll find lots of great deals!

I have two cards to share today. First is my Stamp Something card which is also a birthday card for my hubby. His birthday was yesterday and you should have seen the cake I made....I can handle making cards just fine, but cakes, not so much! It tasted much better than it looked!

Our challenge at SS this week is a sketch created by yours truly. You can flip it, rotate it, and embellish it however you like, but please make sure we can still see the sketch on your creation. Our sponsor this week is Simon Says Stamp and we have a $20 gift certificate for one lucky player!

For my card I went with some fun and funky Lime Rickey BG papers and aqua and navy card stock. The image is Gift Horse from the Whimsy Stamps Digital Collection and it's been colored with Copics. I've stitched all the paper edges on the sewing machine and then embellished with buttons, hemp twine, a piece of ribbon, and some brads. The sentiment is from Snippet Set 1 available at Whimsy Stamps.

This card also fits the challenges at:
Creative Cottage: Circles (I have buttons and brads)
Stamptacular Sunday: Sew Special
Sundays with Crissy: Dots (I have dots on the paper and I doodled dots on the happy birthday sentiment)
Cute Card Thursday: Make Your Own (I made my own paper with a birthday stamp)

Next, I have my card for Just Magnolia and this week we also have a sketch challenge for you. Our super talented Bev has created this sketch and I know you will have fun using it! As always, please use a Magnolia image when playing along. And, just a friendly reminder that your creation must be NEW and it must include our challenge theme/sketch to be eligible for prizes.

I recently ordered a few new Magnolia stamps and to my delight and surprise they arrived on Tuesday, so I just had to ink one up for this challenge. This is Tilda Blowing Bubbles! I used some MME papers and stamped on some postmarks from the Whimsy Circle Postmarks set. The edges have been stitched on the sewing machine. The card stock is chocolate and sky from SU!. I've embellished with lace ribbons, gardenia and cherry blossom flowers, and some Stickles.

This card also fits the challenges at:
Deb's Creations: Girlie Cards
Charisma Cardz: Girly with Flowers
Lili of the Valley: Summer Themed Cards

Thanks for dropping by today. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

A Pixie Sketch and Flowers

Happy Wednesday!

Can you believe the week is already half over! It's been rainy and cold here the past couple of days, but it's suppose to warm up by the weekend. Here's hoping!

Today is a new challenge over at The Pixie Cottage. The challenge this week is a sketch along with the theme of Flower Frenzy! As always, if you join in the fun, you can use the sketch, the theme, or both!

I decided to use both the sketch and theme for my card this week. I can't resist a good sketch and adding flowers...well we all know I have that covered! LOL! I did flip the sketch for my card.

I used the stamp Girls of the World Janneke and colored her with Copics in pinks and browns to match these My Minds Eye papers. The card stock is brown and pink and I've distressed the edges and then stitched the papers on each layer. To finish the card I embellished with flowers, cherry blossoms, flat backed pearls, ribbon, and a butterfly charm.

This card also fits the challenges at:
Secret Crafter: Distressing
Creative Card Crew: April Showers Bring May Flowers

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you'll play along with the challenge at The Pixie Cottage this week! Have a great day!

Happy Birthday Lion

Hello!

Happy Tuesday to you, hope it's been a good day so far. It's a rainy day here, so in my book that means a good day for crafting. I hope to have some time for that later, but first we have to take our Bella to the vet to have her stitches and bandages removed. I know she will be happy about that! Thanks for all the well wishes from my friends out there, they mean a lot to me!

I do have a card to share, one which I created as a birthday card for someone who is celebrating today! I used the Whimsy Lion on this one. I think he makes a grrrr-eat birthday image! HA!

I used the sketch from this week's Sketch Saturday with some fun Lime Rickey papers. I went with aqua and orange for the color combo. My image was colored with Copics. I've embellished simply with eyelets, a tab of ribbon, and some buttons. This card needed to be more masculine and I think buttons are a perfect accent on masculine cards. The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps set Snippets 1 and was punched with the word window punch.

This card also fits the challenges at:
One Stop Craft: Metals
Stamp with Us: Birthday
The Pink Elephant: Aqua

Today is also my day to post over on the Whimsy Inspirations Blog, so if you hop over there you will see this card as well as a couple others I've created over the year.  They are "wildly" fun! And I would also like to welcome you to visit our brand new Whimsy Stamps Gallery! Anyone can register and share Whimsy creations, find ideas using our products, and see lots of inspiration with a touch of Whimsy! We hope you'll stop by and check it out!

Sweet Girl

Happy Monday!

Hope you had a great weekend. Ours flew by pretty quickly unfortunately, but I am somewhat happy to get things back to normal. Last week was certainly very busy! Here's to a quiet and uneventful week!

I had a fun afternoon crafting with family yesterday and was able to get a couple cards made. This card I'm sharing today is a criss cross card. You can find a tutorial HERE. I adjusted the size of my card base pieces to fit my image and papers.

This style fold was perfect for the sketch challenge over at Roses on Paper and so I decided to also use this sweet little girl and teddy bear image. I've colored with Copics in pinks and browns. The papers are Heidi Grace and I've stitched the edges with the sewing machine.  I've embellished with roses and satin ribbon and a tab with a corduroy brad.

This card also fits the challenges at:
Stamptacular Sunday: Sew Special
Pile It On!: Make it Sweet

Thanks for dropping by today! Hope you have a great afternoon.

Anything Goes with Charms

Happy Friday!

I am really happy the weekend is here, it's been a long, rough week. But I have enjoyed having the kids home on vacation and will be sad to see school start on Monday. We have my son's first baseball game this weekend and then a night out with family planned for Saturday. Other than that, hopefully some down time to relax and de-stress! Hope you have a great weekend of fun things planned too.

Today, I have 2 cards to share with you. I wasn't sure if I would get both of my DT cards done, but as it turned out the crafting time was really just want I needed. So first I will share my card for this week's Just Magnolia challenge. And boy is this an easy challenge....it's anything goes! And as long as it has a Magnolia image, you can create anything at all and be entered to win a fabulous prize from Wild Orchid Crafts!

I've use a fun little image Ann sent me and went with a monochromatic color combo in neutrals. I colored the image with Copics and the used the Whimsy Stamps Postmark stamp to add some postmark details. I actually CASED this paper combo and postmark idea from Erin and her beautiful card from last week. The papers are SU! Bella Blue with the Kraft tones. The edges were stitched on the sewing machine. The sketch is from this week's Everybody Art Challenge. I finished off with these gorgeous gardenias and roses from Wild Orchids and some lace ribbon and flat backed pearls.

This card also fits the challenge at:
Just Add Ink: Vintage

Next, I have my card for this week's Stamp Something challenge which is Charmed Somethings. We'd like to see you use charms on your project, you can use a pre-bought one or create your own. Our sponsor this week is Bunny Zoe Crafts and Nikki has a fabulous selection of charms in her shop!

I just love this fun stamp from Kraftin' Kimmie's so I went with her for my card this week. The image was colored with Copics and then I paper pieced her dress. The papers are BG Eva with the sketch from the challenge at Cute Card Thursday this week. I've distressed the edges and then embellished with pearls, gems, a heart pin, ribbon, flowers, and a dragonfly charm.

This card fits the challenges at:
Pile It On: Spring (I think a frog on the head is a great sign of Spring!)
Totally Gorjuss: Charming

Thanks for stopping on by today. I hope you have a fabulous weekend! See you all next week!

A Little Sweetness

Good Morning!

Well, what a week! The kids have been home on vacation which has been great. They love having each other to play with and the weather has been nice and so we've had lots of time outside. But, it's not been a good week for our poor kitty Bella! On Monday she broke her leg and had to have emergency surgery yesterday to fix everything. The poor thing is hobbling around now and we feel so badly for her, but at least she's OK and back at home. A kitty in a cast, NOT a pretty sight! I've not had a chance to visit and blog much this week. I apologize and hope to be back to normal next week.

I did have a bit of crafting time yesterday and boy did I need it! I grabbed some images that my friend Ann sent me and had a fun coloring session and low and behold...a card was made too!

I love this sweet Tilda with Tulip image. She's so cute and perfect for a cheerful Spring card. I used the sketch from Papertake Weekly with some BG Green at Heart papers. The image was colored with Copics. The paper edges were distressed and then stitched on the sewing machine. I finished this card with some eyelets, ribbon, and this beautiful rose from Wild Orchid Crafts.

This card also fits the challenges at:
LaLa Land: Shabby Chic
All That Scraps: Sewing on your project
Crafty Creations: Distressing
Going Grey Challenges: use 3 embellishments (eyelets, ribbon, and flower)

Thanks for stopping by this morning, be sure to stop back this later today to see who won my Just Magnolia blog hop candy! The draw is open until Noon EST today and I will announce the winner this afternoon.

A Pixie Sketch

Happy Wednesday!

Well, our school vacation week is half over, time certainly goes by quick when you are on break! We had a great day with friends yesterday and today we have plans to clean out the garage and get rid of some old stuff. Fun times!

I do have a card to share with you today, this one is for the new challenge at The Pixie Cottage. This week we have a sketch and a theme of Mother's Day. You can use both the sketch and theme or one or the other. I've used just the sketch on my creation today.

I picked this sweet stamp called Waking up to Spring available at The Pixie Cottage shop. The flowers remind me of Black-Eyed Susans, so I decided to go with a brown and yellow combo. I used some Origins BG papers and brown and yellow card stock. The image was colored with Copics and framed with Circle Nestabilities. I've stitched the edges on the sewing machine. Then I embellished with ribbon, a charm and hemp twine, roses, and sticky pearls.

This card also fits the challenges at:
Allsorts: In Stitches
Secret Crafter: A Day Out

If you're up for a challenge, be sure to join us this week at The Pixie Cottage!

Happy Birthday

Good Morning,

Hope you're day is off to a great start! Today, Whimsy Stamps is sponsoring the challenge over at A Spoon Full of Sugar and the theme is Happy Birthday in honor of team member Debbie's birthday this week! Happy Birthday Debbie, hope it's wonderful!

This is the card I created for this special birthday challenge...

I went with the sketch from Sketch Saturday and paired that with some fun Green at Heart BG papers. I think these are perfect for a cheerful birthday wish! I've used the adorable Very Present Helpers stamp from the Crissy Armstrong Collection at Whimsy. The image was colored with Copics, the gift was paper pieced, and then I added some Stickles for texture and shimmer. I've embellished with sticky gems, flowers, and a sentiment also available at Whimsy.

This card also fits the challenges at:
Cute Card Thursday: Touchy Feely
ABC: S is for Sparkle
Create 4 Fun: Cards with Circles

Thanks for stopping by today. We are off for a play date with friends while we enjoy our school vacation this week! Hope you have a great day!

A Little Love

Happy Monday!

Hope that you all had a fabulous weekend. It was pretty rainy here, but we made the most of it. We took the kids to see How to Train Your Dragon on Saturday. It was a fun movie! Great animation and a good story. And last night we had a fun time out for dinner with friends. So all in all, a good weekend despite the weather.

Today I have a quick post for you of a card I made over the weekend. I have a million things to do today, so I have to make this one quick and be gone. I hope that you have a great Monday!

This is the new digital image Love Bunnies available now at Whimsy Stamps. I love the puckering lips on the Mrs. Bunny and the handsome smile on Mr. Bunny. They make a fun pair! I've colored them with Copics and added a bed of shimmering stickles underneath the image. I've embellished with a gardenia flower and roses and a piece of pink ribbon. And, can you believe it! No, designer paper! I just embossed the white layer and kept this card simple. The sentiment is also from the new digital collection at Whimsy.

This card fits the challenges at:
Sentiment Sundays: Blooming Gorgeous (this is a brand new challenge created by my friend Ann Vento!)
Kaboodle Doodles: Embossing
Stamp with Fun: Animals
Stamptacular Sundays: A Penguin Celebration (use black and white or a penguin image)

The image was colored with Copics and then cut out and glued to a scalloped oval frame, which I created with Nestabilities. I've embellished with pearls, flowers, ribbon, and a rose charm. The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps.

I've used this beautiful stamp Spring Time Hannah with Butterflies by Sandra Hammer available at the Pixie Cottage shop. She's been colored with Copics and then framed with Scalloped Circle Nesties. Magnolia Treat Box Gift

Good Morning!

Wow, thanks to all of you who joined us yesterday for the Whimsy Stamps release party hop to celebrate the new digital stamp collection! We love to read your comments and we appreciate the time you took to join us and hop from blog to blog. Thank you!

Today I have a special project to share with you. On Friday, the Just Magnolia challenge blog will be celebrating (you'll have to join us on Friday to see why) and in honor of that celebration, I've created a special gift for Heidi of Simon Says Stamp for all of her support of our challenges and the blog candy prizes she gives away as our monthly sponsor. On Friday, I will share my card that will go with this gift and I will host a Magnolia blog candy chance, so be sure to stop back over then!

A couple weeks ago I tried the card/box with drawers treat box and so my project today is taken from that idea. I've created a chest of drawers and filled those drawers with Ghirardelli Raspberry filled Dark Chocolate squares. Yummy! I do plan to post a tutorial for making this box, but it won't be until June.

I've used BG Indian Summer papers and lots of Magnolia images to complete this project. This is the top view of the chest with Sweet Tilda, colored with Copics and then framed in a Scalloped Circle Nestie and embellished with roses and sticky gems.

This is the left side of the box with Tilda with Hearts and more roses to embellish. You can see I used ribbon to cover the side seams where the box panels meet. And on the front, the drawers have pulls created with brads and metal hardware.

And this is the right side with Happy Tilda and more flowers. I've also stitched all the paper edges with the sewing machine. The card stock is pink and razzleberry with more Indian Summer papers.  All of the images on the sides of the box have been colored with Copics and then cut out and popped up on foam tape.

Last is the back side with Hanging Tilda and again more flowers and ribbons and stitching details. I wanted to make this box all about Magnolia since Just Magnolia is a Magnolia challenge blog and Heidi and Simon Says Stamp carry lots of beautiful Magnolia images.

This project also fits the challenges at:
Papertake Weekly: Cutie Pies
Roses on Paper: Layers
Simple Doodles: Inspire Others
Quixotic Challenges: Joy Of Spring

Thanks for dropping by today! I hope you have a wonderful day and get some time to craft. And before I go, I also wanted to mention an awesome blog candy give away by my Just Magnolia teamie Jacque! Just look what she's offering up....

Totally fabulous right! You have until April 29th at midnight to enter! Hurry on over and check it out!

I've created a Joy Fold card for this project. I've used new Green at Heart BG paper with some pink, razzleberry, and olive card stock. The image was printed out and colored with Copics and then I used Crystal Effects to make his shell shiny. I framed the image with Circle Nestabilities.  I've embellished with cherry blossoms, ribbons, sticky gems, hemp twine with a turtle charm, and the lace border punch. The sentiment was printed and then I used the Fancy Tags Nestabilities to frame it.

Sundays with Crissy

Good Morning!

Happy Sunday to you! Hope your weekend is going well and you've been able to relax and do what makes you happy! Today is the first challenge over at Sundays with Crissy and I'm a guest this week! A big thanks to Crissy for having me and some of the other Whimsy Stamps designers on board for her very first challenge!

The challenge this Sunday is called "Make it a Combo" and Crissy would like you to interpret that however you like, maybe combine techniques or coloring mediums, or combine this challenge with other challenges. The one rule, to be eligible for prizes, is that you must use a digital image designed by Crissy herself. You can buy Crissy's digital images at Squigglefly now and starting tomorrow at Whimsy Stamps

For my card, I've used the new Gift Horse image which will be available at Whimsy tomorrow morning at 9am EST! I love this sweet and fun horse!

I've used Copics on the image and then added some Stickles here and there for shimmer. I've used some new Green at Heart BG papers with hot pink and orange card stock. All of the edges were stitched on the sewing machine. For my combo, I've used both stripes and spots as well as combining Crissy's challenge with some other challenges. To finish off this card I embellished with ribbons and bows and some buttons. The sentiment is from Raindrop Echo Designs' new digital stamp line at Whimsy, also available tomorrow!

This card fits the challenges at:
Creative Cottage: Buttons and Bows
Simon Says Stamp: Card for a Child
Tellen's Place: Anything Goes
Kitchen Sink Stamps: Square Card
Polly Craft Challenges: Anything Goes

Thanks for dropping on by today! Hope to see you again tomorrow for our Whimsy Stamps new release party blog hop!

Punch It Out with Stitching

Happy Friday!

Ahhh, Friday at last! I'm really looking forward to the weekend and getting a chance to relax a bit. And we are only a few more days away from the launch of the new Whimsy Stamps digital stamp collection, so that's exciting! I hope you will join us on Monday for the release party blog hop beginning at noon EST! Have a wonderful weekend!

Today I have two cards to share with you. The first for Stamp Something and our challenge this week of "Stitch Something." You can use real stitching or faux, a little or a lot, but you must have some stitching accents on your project to be eligible to win the prize and be selected as a Top 5 Stamper.

This week our sponsor is Paper Jewels and they kindly gave the DT Bildmalarna or Sweet Pea images to work with. I've used a Sweet Pea image, it's my first time using one of these. I have to say I didn't think they were really my style, but after coloring her, I might be changing my mind. She's definitely different from what I'm used to working with, but coloring her was a lot of fun, so I may need to do it again!

I've used Copics to color the image and then used Crissy's dotty background tutorial to color the background around the image. I also added some Stickles to her fin and in the background for added shimmer. The papers are DCWV and BG Wisteria. I've stitched all the edges of each layer and matched them to some Baja and Eggplant card stock from Stampin' Up!. The embellishments are Prima flowers and sticky gems.

This card fits the challenges at:
Truly Scrumptious: Sketch
Stamptacular Sunday: Girl Cards
Paper Play Challenges: Shiny Happy People

Next I have my card for this week's Just Magnolia challenge, which is Punch It Out! We'd like to see you use your Magnolia images with some punches to create a project. I've also decided to try a new fold with my card today, it's a Joy Fold and I got the idea from my teamie Sheila from her card last week.

I just got this Sweet Tilda stamp last week and had to ink her up right away, isn't she adorable! I've colored her in purples and greens to match the papers I've used. These are from the My Minds Eye Girlie pad. I've stitched all the edges on the sewing machine and then used various punches to finish my card. I embellished with cherry blossoms, a piece of ribbon, a charm and sticky gem, and some pearls on the inside. Here's the view of the fold...

It's a really fun fold style that was super easy to do. I cut the base of the card to 5 1/2 wide by 8 1/4 long. Fold the card at 2 3/4 and then you have the fold. Then I used a 4 x 8 piece for the center card, folded in half. Glue that in the middle of the large half of the base and there you have the Joy Fold.

For my punches I've used Circle and Scalloped Circle Nesties, lace border punch, Heart Corners Nesties, and the modern label punch. Here is a picture of the inside...I've used a sentiment from Whimsy Stamps.

Whimsy Sneak Peek - Awww, So Tweet!

Good Morning,

Hope you're having a good day today. I have a busy day of crafting planned to get a jump start on some DT work, but before I get to all that, I do have a sneak peek to share with you today. Whimsy Stamps will be releasing a new digital stamp collection on Monday, April 12th. And all this week our designers have been sharing fun projects using these new images.

I have used the new image Awww, So Tweet! from our artist Katie Sowa. I've really been enjoying being able to just print a sheet of images and get coloring. I'm still a HUGE fan of rubber stamps, but digis seem to be growing on me.

I've gone with sepia color tones for this card and distressed all the edges and added lace for an antique look. I've colored the image was Copics and then embellished with pearls and flowers. The papers are from my local store and the card stock is Kraft and chocolate.

This card fits the challenges at:
PaperTake Weekly: Sketch
Crafty Calendar: April Fool's (used a funny image)
Cute Card Thursday: Mono Mania (use one color)

Thanks for dropping by today! Be sure to visit my fellow Whimsy DT members to see what sneak peeks they are sharing today. Have a great day!

Happy Stamping,
