Cold, Winter Winds Somethings

Happy Friday!

Another week is over, bring on the weekend! Hope you all have some fun things planned. My hubby and I are escaping for a night out to celebrate our anniversary. Very much looking forward to getting away, even if it's only for one night.

Today we have a new challenge for you over on Stamp Something and this one is all about Winter Winds. We are all so ready for Winter to be over that we thought, let's give it one last hurrahhh and then say good bye for good. And maybe Mother Nature will hear us and bring on Spring sooner rather than later. Here's hoping! So for the challenge create a cold, winter wind something and enter by 7pm EST on Thursday, March 5th for your chance to win some Whimsy Stamps! One lucky winner will receive a gift certificate in the amount of $20 to shop in the online store. And, Whimsy is having a Winter Sale right now in celebration of the end of Winter. We need to clear out the Winter stamps to make room for the Spring ones! Head over there to take advantage of some great savings on select stamps while supplies last!

This is the card I made for the challenge. I used the sketch from last week's Friday Sketchers challenge and paired it with these Ski Slope papers from SU!. This Baja color just says cold and winter to me. The image is Whimsy Animals Moose. He's been colored with Copics and highlighted with a gel pen. The snow was created with chunky glitter and dazzling diamond dust. The accents are square rhinestone brads and a felt snowflake.

Head over to the Stamp Something site and check out all the wintry, windy and cold Design Team samples. Then, I hope you'll get out your stamps and play along with us!

Have a great weekend! Happy Stamping!! :)

Animal Magic Sketch

Hi All!

Here we are to Thursday already! Hope you're week is going well. I did some housework this morning and rewarded myself with some stamping time. A girl needs a little reward now and again, right?! :)

While blogging I came across the new challenge on Cute Card Thursday, which is animal magic. You must use an animal somewhere on your project. Then I decided I would need a good sketch to go with this CCT challenge so I hopped over to Paper Take Weekly and found a great one by Dawny P.

This is my card, for both challenges. My animal magic with a sketch! I used these beautiful Parisian Breeze papers from Stampin' Up!. I think this is my new favorite color combo too, Chocolate Chip, Kraft, Baja, and White.

The image is my Whimsy Stamps Owl, I haven't used this cutie in a while. He's colored with Copics and highlighted with a white gel pen. I framed him with my Labels Two Nestabilities. The embellishments are paper swirls, Prima flowers, buttons, and some Hodgepodge Hardware.

Thanks for stopping on by today. Enjoy what's left of your Thursday. Happy Stamping!! :)

Oh, one more thing before I go...just a reminder about the image swap.

10+1 images are due by Monday, March 2nd. I've been receiving packages daily and posting them as received on the swap post. If you haven't yet mailed yours off to me, please do so quickly. We want everyone who signed up to take part in swapping these great images. Thanks! You can see the updated received images lists here.

Copics Color Challenge

Hello, happy Wednesday!

Another week already half over, hope it's going well for you! We had a great day with friends yesterday and today we're relaxing at home. I even had time to stamp already this morning! Might do more later too, but I must do some cleaning and laundry first.

I made this card for the challenge over on Copics Colour Challenge. This is a pretty new challenge blog, which posts a new challenge each week now using different Copic Marker colors as the challenge theme. The challenge this week is to use B02-Robin's Egg Blule, R05-Salmon Red, and YG23-New Leaf. Well, I only have the blue, so I went with that color on my image and threw in some greens on my papers. No reds though!

I started by stamping this Pajama Time Emma stamp from Whimsy's Kids Collection. Then colored her with Copics, B02, B04, and B06. I also used a colorless blender to highlight some areas. Then colored her skin and hair with other Copics. The papers are Me & My Big Ideas and Stampin' Up! cardstock. The embellishments are white gel pen dots, taffeta ribbon in chocolate, and a die cut flower which coordinates with the paper. I also added some glitter and CE to the flower. The sentiment is from the set Simply Said by Whimsy Stamps.

I'm off now to tend to the household chores. Have a great day!

Happy Stamping! :)

Everybody Art Challenge - Bags

Good Morning,

Hope you're having a nice Tuesday. It's cold here, but the sun is shining. We're going to head out to a play date for the kids and some mommy chat time today. Very much looking forward to getting out of the house and spending time with a good friend! :)

Before we head out for the day, I have a project to share with you that I made for the Everybody Art Challenge blog. Domi, one of the DT gals, asked Whimsy Stamps to sponsor the challenge this week, which we are very happy to do. The challenge theme is bags. I think it's pretty open to your interpretation as long as you create a bag of some sort. One lucky participant will win a free Whimsy Stamps stamp!

Here is my bag, well to be more accurate, my box in a bag. I used this tutorial on SCS to create the bag and then embellished with stamps and flowers. The bottom of the bag is a box made with Tempting Turquoise cardstock and the bag itself is a piece of Urban Prairie paper from BasicGrey.

I used my Whimsy Duck for the main image, colored him with Copics and framed him using my circle Nestabilities. I used the new Eyelet border punch from SU! to do the bottom detail. The handles are made with the tag punch, jumbo eyelets, and satin ribbon. I also added a Prima flower, button center, and butterfly with gems to finish off this bag.

Not sure what I'll do with it now, but it was super easy to make and I think it's cute. Hope you'll give this challenge a try. Visit Everybody Art for more details.

Happy Stamping! :)

Truly Scrumptious Challenge

Hi All!

Hope you're having a great Monday! We got more snow last night, so we're staying in today. The kids are home from school on vacation and having fun playing together so I took a few minutes and put together a card and enjoyed some stamping time.

I used the sketch from the very first Truly Scrumptious Challenge. This is a brand new challenge blog, which started last Wednesday. Our newest Whimsy DT member Michele is also one of the talented design team members for Truly Scrumptious! And what better way to support a friend than stamping a card! :)

I'm loving these new printed papers from SU!'s Sale-a-Bration. They are perfect for Springy and cheerful cards. I used some Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery for the cardstock colors. The image is a cottontail bunny from Sugar Nellie, colored with Copics. The embellishments on this card are wide and narrow grosgrain ribbons, brads, and sticky cut hearts with glitter.

Thanks for stopping by today! Head on over to Truly Scrumptious and give this sketch challenge a try. You have until March 3rd to enter, so plenty of time!

Happy Stamping! :)

3D Somethings

Morning and happy Friday!

I'm so happy that this week is coming to an end. I've been very busy finishing up 150 save the dates, which I will be DONE with today. Then, it's the weekend! Hope you all have something fun planned.

We have a new challenge over on STAMP SOMETHING today, which is being hosted by our DT member Alex. She challenged us to make a 3D Something! This was a tough one for me. I'm a card makers and altered items and bags and boxes aren't my thing. I very rarely delve into that type of designing. Plus, I just made a couple 3D things last week and I really wanted to try something new. So, I got the idea to create a 3 dimensional aspect on my card from our newest DT member Marcea! Thanks hun, loved your card, it was the inspiration for mine!

I started by creating the card with Bashful Blue cardstock and added on some new DSP from the SU! Sale-a-Bration pack. I added some new yellow grosgrain ribbon also from Sale-a-Bration.

Then I stamped my image, 3 times. Colored one completely with my Copics. Then colored the other two umbrellas only. I mounted the image to some Banana cardstock and mounted it to my finished card base. I added some Prima Flowers, rhinestone brads, a flower charm, paper piercing, a sentiment (from Whimsy Stamps) and hodgepodge hardware. The final step was to adhere the pieces to the umbrella and create the 3 dimensional effect.

I cut the whole umbrella out and mounted it over the original one in the complete image. Then cut the top part of the umbrella from the third image and mounted that over the already 3D umbrella piece. I gives the illusion that she's actually standing under that umbrella! I also added some bubble stickers to create some 3D raindrops.

So there you have it, a 3D Something! I hope you'll give this challenge a try. Be sure to check out the design team's 3D creations over on STAMP SOMETHING. Alex has some great blog candy on offer for one lucky participant!

And, speaking of blog candy chances...Rach, Bev, and Jacqui are all offering up fabulous blog candy right now. Plus, it's always a treat to visit their blogs to see their wonderful crafting talent on display. Hop over to their blogs and check them out, you'll be glad you did!

Have a great weekend, happy stamping! :)

Spring Time

Hi All!

Hope you're having a good day. We're in the midst of yet another snowstorm here in the Northeast. Hopefully, it will warm up again soon and all melt away. I've pretty much had enough winter! I'm so ready for Spring and flowers and warmer days.

When I saw the challenge on Cute Card Thursday today, I knew it was perfect to lift the spirits and bring on Spring. I made a card using their Spring theme as well as using the color combo challenge on Magnolia v. Stampavie. So, this is a two for one card!

I received this super cute Magnolia image from Deb M. I love her Deb, she's darling! Thank you for thinking of me. I've colored Tilda with Copics and added some white gel pen highlights. Then cut her out. She's sitting on some chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon.

The cardstock colors are SU! Not Quite Navy, Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue, and Old Olive. The patterned paper is BasicGrey Urban Prairie.

I used my new eyelets border punch and some leaves cut with a Sissix die, both from my new SU! goodies. I also added some Prima flowers, buttons, brads, and metal accents to finish off this card.

Thanks for stopping by today. I'm off to take my son to school and then it's time to finish up those save the dates. Hopefully, I'll find time later for some fun stamping! Have a great day.

Happy Stamping!! :)

Sketch Saturday with Whiff of Joy

Hi All, happy Wednesday!

I can't believe that another week is already half over! Things are moving quickly, maybe because I have lots to do. We're suppose to get more snow tonight too, but I'm praying that the weathermen are wrong this time! Hope you're day is off to a great start!

The card I have to share today is one I made using the sketch from this past Saturday's Sketch Saturday challenge and I also used the recipe challenge from last week's Whiff of Joy challenge. Both of these challenges were fun, but I was a bit late in entering the Whiff challenge. Oh well, still like the card! :)

I need to thank Erin, for kindly sharing this beautiful new SU! Parisian Breeze DSP with me. I just love it Erin! The paper is not only really pretty with lots of patterns and designs, but it's also textured!

I used this Willow with Umbrella stamp from Whiff of Joy and colored her with Copics. The flowers are Primas with new SU! brads for the centers. I also added some paper swirls which I made with my new SU! Sissix Swirls die. The final embellishments were the chocolate chip ribbon and button, as well as some rain drops, which are just clear plastic bubble stickers.

Got to love when Mr. Brown shows up with lots of new goodies! Always an inspiration to get stamping!

Hope you all have a fabulous day! Happy Stamping!! :)

Layers of Color - Sweet and Simple

Morning!

I have a quick post today and then it's back to my save the dates project. Hope you're all having a great day!

This is a card I made using Layers of Color art stamps. Laura, the owner of Layers of Color recently released new stamp sets to add to her clear art stamp collection. Her stamps are very intricate and beautiful and they work well for many different types of stamping projects. You can see the new stamps here.

The card I made uses the mouse from Polka Dot Parade. Isn't he cute! First, I used my frame embossing folder and Cuttlebug to create this simple hanging picture detail. Then I stamped the mouse inside the frame, colored him with Copics and added white gel pen and crystal effects to the strawberry seeds for some added detail.

I mounted the white cardstock to a piece of Riding Hood Red cardstock and then added a tiny dew drop bead to the center of the embossed ribbon. The sentiment is also from this same stamp set, Polka Dot Parade.

And there you have it, a simply sweet card to say thank you. Have a wonderful day. Happy Stamping!! :)

Narwhal Wishes

Hi Everyone!

Well, it's Monday! Another week underway. I have a busy week again this week, still working on the save the dates project and then it's tax time! I hope you have some fun things planned. I hope to squeeze in some blogging, but I might not get to visit you all more than once or so this week, but I'll be back next week.

I have a card to share today that I sent to a friend for her birthday. I saw it posted on her blog so I know she got already and it's safe for me to post it. :)

This is our Whimsy Narwhal Whale, he was just released this month to our Animals Collection. I think he's super sweet, plus he is very easy to color! I used some Ski Slope DSP and SU! cardstock in Riding Hood Red and Baja Breeze. The snowflake embossing was done with my Cuttlebug. For some added detail I used crystal effects and glitter on the Narwhal's horn and on the snowflake.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a super Monday.

I've started a 4th group for the image swap, if you're interested in joining, let me know! We'd love to have anyone who would like to join in the fun.

Happy Stamping!

Chocolate Somethings

Happy Friday!

You know what that means...that's right, a new challenge on STAMP SOMETHING! Last week our theme was Valentines and this week we are staying along those same lines and going with Chocolate Somethings. Who doesn't love chocolate right? So, this should be an easy one. You can make a project with the color chocolate or with edible chocolate, let your imagination be your guide and have fun with this one. Our DT member Lisa Henke is sponsoring the challenge this week and giving one lucky winner a boat load of fabulous stamping goodies. Head over to STAMP SOMETHING and check out the yummy DT creations and blog candy!

For my project I sort of "fudged" the chocolate theme a bit, no pun intended. So, in a way I'm cheating a bit with this challenge. I saw a really cute treat tote on Rach's blog earlier this week and wanted to give it a try, but I didn't want to use it with candy treats, so I improvised a bit. I wanted to send a friend some Whimsy images and a stamp as a little Valentines hello, which this tote is perfect for. And, I did also add a bag of chocolate Hershey Kisses as a little yummy treat so that's how this gift fits this week's challenge. It's a stretch, I know, but let me get away with it this time.

So, this is the front view of the tote. I used a recycled cereal box, some BasicGrey Urban Prairie paper, and lots of coordinating embellishments to make this tote. This was a super easy project and one that was actually a lot of fun to put together. I think I enjoyed it a lot because I love these papers too!

This is the inside view. I added two pockets, one to hold images stamped on 5 1/2 X 4 1/4 inch pieces of white cardstock and the other to hold a little bag filled with different embellishments. The tote folds up and is tied closed with various pieces of ribbon.

This is the side view, which makes it easier to see all the different pockets. I filled the front pocket with a new Whimsy Stamp as a little gift. The pocket was embellished with a Whimsy Frog image and some flowers and accents.

And, this is the back view. I added a smaller flatter pocket to hold a tag which carries the note to my friend. I also embellished this pocket with my Whimsy Frog and various flowers and assorted accent pieces.

This tote is not only cute, but also very versatile. You could add just about anything to the pockets to customize it for your gift idea. Rach used hers for a movie night theme. She enclosed a DVD, some popcorn, and candies. If you'd like more details on how to make this tote, feel free to email me. I'm happy to share!

Have a wonderful weekend. Hope you'll find some time to stamp something chocolaty this week! Happy Stamping! :)

Supplies:
-2 pieces of light weight card board, such as a cereal box. Each piece needs to be 5 1/2 X 9 inches. Scored across the 5 1/2 inch side at the one inch mark.
-4 pieces of designer paper, each 5 1/2 X 9 inches. Use these to cover your cereal box pieces.
-Glue the two pieces together along that one inch score line, they will overlap. This will create the tote.
-Add pockets in various sizes with cardstock and designer paper. Embellish as desired.
-Punch holes in the top of the tote to use for closing.
-Fill tote, tie closed.

Valentine Treat Box

Morning,

Hope your Thursday is off to a great start. It's only 9:30ish here and I've gone to the vet, taken my son to the dentist, dropped him off at school, and gone to the Post Office! Definitely feeling very productive today, hopefully I can get some stamping projects finished up too!

The project I'm sharing today is one I made for my son's teacher for Valentine's Day. It's a candy treat box. I feel like all I've been making this week is Valentine stuff, but it's fun. I got this idea from Jeanette's blog and then used the tutorial on SCS. It looks much harder than it really is and now that I've made one, I will make another one! Trust me, if I can make this, so can you! :)

I used BasicGrey papers and a Whiff of Joy image to decorate this box. The image is colored with Copics and the wings have been dusted with a glitter glue and extra glitter. I used grosgrain ribbon, a hat pin and beads, prima flowers, and some sticker rhinestones to finish off this box. The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps.

This is a side view so you can see better how the whole box looks finished. The box itself is just a piece of printed paper and the cover is a piece of a cereal box covered with matching printed paper. The ribbon is used to hold the cover closed. I filled the box with Hershey Kisses, a nice little chocolate treat!

Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the rest of your day. I'm off now to bake some cupcakes for my son's Valentine's party tomorrow!

Happy Stamping! :)

Happy Heart Day

Happy Wednesday!

This week is just flying by, I guess it's because I have lots to do! Hope you've had a good couple of days.

Today I want to share the Valentines I made for my son for his Kindergarten friends. All he needs to do is sign them and they are ready to go.

I used Riding Hood Red, Pretty in Pink and White SU! cardstock. The image is from the SU! set Happy Heart Day and has been colored with Copics. These cards are 3x3 square, perfect for a little hello.

I added a Dum Dum lollipop to the back of each Valentine by punching two notches with the double rectangle punch. You can just slide the lollipop stick into the punch outs and viola, it's attached!

Thanks for stopping by today, hope you have a nice afternoon. I hope to get a chance to do some stamping for fun later today, but it's warm here so we may be outside this afternoon.

Happy Stamping!! :)

Winter Friends?

Hello!

Here we are again, at the start of another week. Hope you all had a nice weekend. It was actually somewhat warm here, not a heat wave by any means but warm enough that some of the snow and ice melted. It gives me hope that maybe Spring will come sooner rather than later.

This card I'm sharing today is one I made using the new Whimsy Bunny and Snowman stamp. I love this stamp because the image is funny and also because you could stamp the bunny or the snowman alone to use them separately.

The image was colored using Copics and then I created the snow with chunky glitter and dazzling diamond glitter. The papers are SU! cardstock and BasicGrey Bittersweet printed paper. I embellished with grosgrain ribbons, a felt snowflake and flower with a rhinestone brad, and then some dew drops.

Thanks for dropping by, hope your Monday runs smoothly. I'm off to work on 150 Save the Date cards! Yikes! Be sure to check out the image swap I'm hosting, we've got a new group started!

Happy Stamping!! :)

Sketch Saturday with Whimsy Stamps

Good Saturday Morning,

Hope your weekend is off to a great start. I'm planning to hit some craft stores later, but before I leave for the day, I have a card to share that I made for the challenge over at Sketch Saturday. Whimsy Stamps is sponsoring the challenge this week and we're offering up two stamps from our new Whimsy Kids Collection to one lucky participant! Head over and check out the challenge and all the terrific design team creations!

The sketch this week was created by the super talented Jeanette, who we are also lucky enough to have on our Whimsy Design Team! Here's the sketch....

For my card I wanted to incorporate Valentine's Day into this sketch. So, I started by making the card using some BasicGrey Bittersweet papers and SU! cardstock in pinks and browns. Once I had the card put together, I chose to use my new Whimsy Walrus for the image and a sentiment from our Animal Love set. The corners have jumbo eyelets and then I added some white gel pen highlights and dots for some faux stitching. My final touch was to create some faux snow for this big guy to lay on and I did that with some crystal effects, chunky glitter and dazzling diamond dust glitter.

Thanks for taking a peek, have a wonderful weekend. And if you are up for a challenge, pop on over to Sketch Saturday and join in the fun!

Happy Stamping!! :)

Something For Your Valentine

Happy Friday All!

I'm so happy the weekend is here, it was a good week all in all, but weekends are always better! :)

We have a new challenge today over on STAMP SOMETHING and this one is all about Valentines! Make a project for someone you love and share it with us on or before Thursday, February 12th at 7pm EST and you could win some Whiff of Joy stamps! Whiff of Joy is sponsoring this challenge and has generously donated two of the new party animals stamps! Head over and check out the challenge and all the Valentine's Somethings the design team has created to inspire!

This is the card I made for the challenge. It actually fits two challenges this week, STAMP SOMETHING and Whiff of Joy Challenges. I wanted to use a WoJ image and the new challenge at WoJ challenges was a fun sketch, so I combined the two.

I used this cute Lizzie stamp and colored her with Copics and then added some Twinkling H2Os to give her some shimmer. The gems on her hat are covering the holly and berries which are not very Valentin-y. The papers are BasicGrey and the cardstock is SU! Pink Pirrouette, Chocolate Chip, and Close to Cocoa. I embellished with silver hodgepodge, Prima flowers, rhinestone brads, and ribbons.

Thanks for popping on by today, hope you have a fabulous weekend. Happy Stamping! :)

Basic Grey Challenge

Happy Wednesday!

Another week half over! Aside from all the email issues, things are going pretty well today. Hope you're having a good Wednesday. The sun is shining here, but it's pretty cold.

I have stamp club tonight and spent some time this morning getting ready for that, looking forward to a girls night stamping. I also had time to make a card using the sketch over at BasicGrey Challenges. I've really been having fun doing all these challenges lately, so many great ones out there too. And who doesn't love a great sketch! :)

Here's my card using the sketch from the challenge and some BasicGrey Gypsy paper. I used Pajama Time Emma from Whimsy Stamps as my main image and colored her with Copics. I then cut her out using my new Labels Two Nesties. I also added some embossing with the Swiss Dots folder and paper piercing to the edging.

The final embellishments are blue grosgrain ribbon and purple hydrangea Prima flowers and brads. I forgot to add a sentiment, oops! I guess this will be an any occasion card.

Have a great afternoon! See you soon, happy stamping!! :)

On Guard

Hi All!

What a day today has been and it's only noon! Yesterday our email changed due to a buy out of the current company and oh boy what a disaster! After long waits on hold and fighting with the email program, I've just given up and created a Google mail account. The other one is just not worth the trouble. Ahhh, technology!

Anyway, hope you're having a good day. I made a card yesterday using my new Knight Connor from Whimsy Stamps. This stamp was inspired by my son who loves to dress up and play knight and swords!

I used some Washington Apple DSP from SU! along with SU! cardstock in Riding Hood Red and Bashful Blue. The image was colored with Copics. The accents are grosgrain ribbon in pumpkin and blue as well as some buttons and twine.

Thanks for coming by today, enjoy the rest of your day. I'm hoping to stamp something later. Happy Stamping! :)

Friday Sketchers #37

Hi Everyone!

Well, it's Monday, not much else to say about that! Hope you had a nice weekend. We had a birthday party for our daughter and then stayed in out of the cold and of course watched the Super Bowl last night. Now, I'm catching up on some stamping and blogging.

I made this card today for the challenge on Friday Sketchers. I came across this sketch on both Bev and Rach's blogs and thought it was a simple and easy way to get the mojo flowing. I also loved the image Rach used on her card and just happened to have been given some of these cute bunny images by my friend Janna.

I used Basic Grey printed papers and Stampin' Up! cardstock. The image was colored with Copics and then highlighted with a white gel pen. The embellishments are felt ribbon and flower brads and I added some paper piercing to the image piece. Simple yet still cute! This was a fun sketch!

Thanks for stopping by today, hope you have a great Monday! Happy Stamping! :)
