Very Present Birthday

Happy Monday All!

Hope you had a great weekend. It was super hot here and is going to be hot for the next few days. I guess summer is not ready to leave us just yet. The kids are back to school tomorrow though.

I made a quick card this morning using one of my favorite Whimsy Stamps images...this is Very Present Helpers from the Crissy Armstrong Collection.

I colored these adorable kittens with Copics and went for a Siamese look on them. I used the colors E40, 41, 51, and 70 along with W1, 3, 5 for the paws and tails. The paper is some from my scrap stash, so not sure exactly who makes it. I think SEI. I went for a more white on white color combo to fit the challenge over at The Pink Elephant and then added the pink to fit over at Stamptacular Sunday. I've embellished with buttons and a piece of ribbon and then a sentiment from the Whimsy Birthday Letter Seals set.

Thanks so much for dropping by today. Be sure to check out the Whimsy DT and their new creations on Wednesday when we release some new digital images! Have a great afternoon!

A Sketch and Back to School

Morning All!

Happy Friday! So sorry I didn't post all week. We actually took some time off to go visit my sister and dad. It was a great way to spend a few days and other than the rain, we had a blast! I miss them all already and hope we can all see each other again soon.

Today being Friday means new challenges over at Stamp Something and Just Magnolia. And can you believe it's already the last Friday of the month too! My word, where did this summer go! In keeping with the end of summer, our challenge over at SS this week is "Back to School Somethings" and you can interpret that however you choose. You can make a card for a teacher or your child to wish them well, create a scrap book page of the first day back, or make a back to school gift.

I created this card using a Meljen's Designs digital stamp and some BG Eva papers. The image is Teddy Bear Teacher and I colored my image with Copics and then distressed the edges. Melissa has created a great assortment of Back to School images and we, at Whimsy Stamps, are having a huge store wide 25% off sale, so now is the time to buy! The BG papers have also been distressed. To finish the card I added a piece of satin ribbon, some flowers, and some brads.

This card fits the challenges at:
Stamp with Fun: card for a girl
Creative Card Crew: Sparkle and Shine
Cute Card Thursday: Dying for a Punch  - no punches
BasicGrey Challenges: Fabric (I have corduroy brads)

Next is my JM card using our sketch challenge this week. Dawny has created another fabulous sketch to follow and that along with a Magnolia image and you are good to enter!

I wanted to make a cheery card with this sketch so I went with yellow. We have been having a lot of rain lately so I'd like to see some sunshiny yellow! The papers are BG Origins with cream and yellow card stock. I colored my image with Copics and then cut her out and popped her up on foam tape. I've embellished with flowers, ribbon, twine, and a piece of hardware. The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps.

This card also fits the challenges at:
Papertake Weekly: 3-2-1 recipe (3 paper strips, 2 ribbons/2eyelets, 1 image)

Thanks for stopping on by today. I hope you have a wonderful Friday and a fabulous weekend!

Make It Sentimental and Go Digi

HI All!

Hope you've had a nice week. It's been another busy one here and lots of fun going on behind the scenes at Whimsy Stamps too. It's going to be a really FUN September so stay tuned!

Today is new challenge day over at Just Magnolia and this week our challenge is super easy. We are calling it "Let's Get Sentimental" and all you need to do is include a sentiment on your project along with your Magnolia image. And it does NOT have to be a Magnolia sentiment, but you do of course need to have a Magnolia image on your project.

I've used my romantic Tilda on this card, I just love her. I went for a vintage feel on this one and used more K and Company papers with a floral pattern and some text paper as well. The image was colored with Copics and then layered on a tapestry embossed cream layer that was cut with Nesties. I also added some paper pierced details to the edge. The card was embellished with flowers, ribbon, lace, chandelier drops, and my sentiment in a hodgepodge frame with brads. The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps.

Next, I have my card for Stamp Something and we have a new challenge posting today as well. This week we are going digital again and have all used some fun digital images and papers in our projects. I chose this sweet image from Prairie Fairy, one of our sponsors, to make my card.

I used some BG Eva papers in fun pinks. The image was colored with Copics and then I added some glitter accents. I used the MS heart punch to add the detail across the middle of the card and then embellished with flowers and roses. It's pretty clean and simple for me, but to be truthful, it's been a hard week and I've not felt much like stamping. I was just happy to have a few minutes to whip something up.

I also made a quick treat container using some paper from Blackleaf Studios, another one of our sponsors this week. This is a sour cream container using one of the digital papers available in the prize at SS this week.

I created a sour cream container with these papers. It's a quick and easy project and having papers to just print out makes it even easier! I added a piece of ribbon and a sentiment framed with oval punches. These would make perfect treat containers for a party favor!

Thanks for dropping by today. I hope you have a great weekend!

Wedding

Hi All and Happy Monday,

This is going to be a quick post today as I have loads to do and the kids are begging to go outside. Hope you're having a good day.

Stamping time has been little lately and I want to apologize in advance for not blogging much lately either. I don't think I will be posting too much over the next couple of weeks either, sadly. We have been working hard at Whimsy on some fun things, that I can't share yet, and with the kids home from school my days are less and less my own. Hoping to find a new normal soon!

This card was created with a Whiff of Joy image that Erin kindly shared with me. And I CASEd her idea on the flower soft details from the card she posted HERE. The image was colored with Copics and then I distressed the edges and added some stickles. The papers are K and Company and I've sewn the edges on the machine. I finished off with some ribbons, a charm, flowers, and a sentiment from Whimsy Stamps.

This card also fits the challenges at:
Friday Sketchers: sketch
Secret Crafter: girlie
The Pink Elephant: ribbon and sparkles

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you have a great day!

A Fiary Tale Sketch

Happy Friday All!

TGIF, that's all I can say! Today is new challenge day over at Just Magnolia and Stamp Something and this week we have two really easy challenges for you. I hope you will join us and give these a shot and you could even combine them!

First I have my JM card to share. This week we have a fabby sketch by our super talented Dawny. I have to say I loved this one and I know I will use it again and again...you'll see from my SS card next that I sorted of used it again already!

I started with some DCWV papers from the Old World stack and then stitched the edges on the sewing machine. The center circle was created with my Nesties and the tapestry CB embossing folder. I colored my Fall Tilda with Copics and then cut her out and adhered her to the circle. I've embellished with flowers, brads, ribbon, altered chipboard hearts and a tag and then a sentiment from the ticket set at Whimsy Stamps.

This card also fits the challenges at:
Quixotic Challenges: Alter It
All That Scraps: Die Cuts
Crafty Creations: Winged Things
Our Creative Corner: Embossable
Colour Create: Ivory, Duck Egg Blue, and one other color

Now for my SS card this week we have the theme of Fairy Tales and we are sponsored by Magnolia-licious! So I've created a card using another cute Tilda.

This card uses some Bohemia papers from My Minds Eye and I've stitched the edges and done some distressing as well. For Tilda I paper pieced her clothing to match the papers and then added glitter to make it all that much more girlie. I've embellished with ribbon and a metal frame, sticky pearls, flowers, and more glitter. The sentiment is from the ticket set at Whimsy Stamps.

This card also fits the challenges at:
Creative Inspirations: Recycled Element (the metal frame)
Paper Sundaes: Metal

Thanks for dropping by today, I truly appreciate the visit. I'll be back shortly with the winner of my blog candy! Hope you have a great weekend!

Another Bookmark

To enter my blog candy, please click HERE!

Hi There!

Hope you're having a nice day today. Today is new release day for the Meljen's Designs digital stamps at Whimsy Stamps. Each Thursday Melissa releases 5 more of her fabulously cute designs and this week she has created a great assortment for back to school projects!

I decided to use one of the new images, Little Book Worm, to create two thank you bookmarks for my son to give to his teachers. These are going to go in the little buckets of treats I shared on Monday this week. You can see that post HERE. Instead of making a card and a bookmark, I combined the idea and made a pocket card with the bookmark insert. Then my son wrote his message on the back of the bookmark.

The papers are some Riding Hood Red card stock from SU! with some Cosmo Cricket designer papers. I went with a primary color combination. I tied some black and white gingham ribbon and a button to the pocket and finished with the thankful ticket available at Whimsy Stamps. For the bookmark, I just printed and colored my image and then used more of the same papers and finished with a jumbo eyelet and some ribbons.

This bookmark fits the challenges at:
The Pixie Cottage: Fancy Fold
Going Grey Challenges: back to school
Incy Wincy: A Bugs Life
Sentimental Sundays: Anything Goes
Allsorts: Primary Colors

Thanks for dropping by today. I hope you have a great Thursday. See you all back here tomorrow for brand new challenge projects for Just Magnolia and Stamp Something.

Whimsy Blog Candy

Hi All!

Happy Wednesday! Today has been crazy around here. I was hoping to get some new cards posted but just haven't had any crafting time. Once school starts up again I think things will quiet down again.

Since I didn't have any time to craft, I did a little clean up around my office/craft room. And while cleaning, I found some Whimsy sample stamp sets (that's why they are pink, but they stamp just perfect!) and some BG paper that I thought I would offer up as blog candy.

This blog candy prize includes the stamps Pretty Peratunia, Party Pony, and Holiday Circle Postmarks all mounted on EZ Mount foam and then also a pad of 6x6 Kioshi from BasicGrey.

All you have to do to win this prize is enter the linky below before Noon EST on Friday, August 13th. Who said Friday the 13th is a bad day, right! I will draw one winner at random and post here Friday afternoon. Good luck! And if you want to mention this candy, that would be great but it is not required.

Teacher Gift

Morning!

Happy Monday! Too bad another weekend is already over, hope it was a fun one for you. We stayed busy and enjoyed the outdoors before the real humidity hit us again yesterday. Today is suppose to be another scorcher! Good day for the kids and the pool!

I saw the cutest teacher gift idea over on my sweet friend Crystal's blog the other day and I just had to CASE it! Crystal used a super cute Meljen's Designs image to make a perfect set of gifts for a teacher. My son is taking some summer fun classes and I wanted to give his teachers something to say thank you and thought this idea was perfect. And Crystal being Crystal (one of the nicest girls you will ever meet!) of course shared where she found the little box and I was lucky enough to find one too! BIG thanks Crystal!!

As Crystal did, I left the little box as is and then filled it with various trinkets perfect for a teacher. By the way, got everything at Target. There's a magnetic notepad, some pencils and a pen, a bottle of Purell, an altered little notebook that I used the fun Back 2 School Pencil image from Meljen's Designs on, then of course a candy bar (who doesn't want a bit of chocolate), stickers, post it notes, and some red shredded filler. The front was decorated with another of Meljen's Designs, this one is Teddy Bear ABC's and I added a couple ribbon tabs and a red ribbon bow to the side. Quick and easy little gift that was also inexpensive!

Now I just need to make a couple of cards and maybe a matching bookmark and these gifts will be ready for my son to give to his teachers on Thursday. Meljen's Designs has a great selection of Back to School images and I think there will be more to come too! So stay tuned! New Meljen's images are available each and every Thursday over at Whimsy Stamps!

Have a great Monday!

Inspired and Acetate

Happy Friday All!

Hope it's been a nice week for you and that you are looking forward to the weekend. Today being Friday means all new challenges at Just Magnolia and Stamp Something. We hope you will join in the fun and play along with us!

At JM this week we have our special monthly challenge sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. This week we want to see you create a project using ACETATE! You must also use a Magnolia image on your creation to qualify for the prize.

For my card I created a pocket with acetate. I used some red and cream card stock with these fun Lazy Summer Magnolia papers. I stitched all the edges and then created the pocket with a piece of acetate. Inside the pocket is a happy birthday tag with Sweet Tilda. I colored her with Copics and then finished the tag with a jumbo eyelet, some ribbon, a charm and hemp twine, and some sticky gems on the corners. I've also embellished the card with flowers, lace, ribbon, and brads. The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps.

This card also fits the challenges at:
Creative Cottage: Acetate
Papertake Weekly: White and Bright
Cute Card Thursday: Whateva

Over at SS this week we have a photo inspiration challenge for you. You just need to take a look at the photo and create something that is inspired by the picture or colors or theme, etc. Our sponsor this week is Paper Jewels.

I decided to use both the colors and theme of this inspiration photo. I also used a CC Designs image as Paper Jewels carries this brand of stamps. The papers are DCWV from the Sweet Stack. I embellished with flowers, pearls, ribbon, and glimmer mist and Stickles. The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps.

This card also fits the challenges at:
Simon Says Stamp: Sing It Baby (my sentiment sings happy bday song)
7 Kids College Fund: Pink and Dots
Your Next Stamp: Birthdays

Thanks for dropping by today. I hope you have a great weekend! And if you're up for a challenge please join in at JM and SS!

Something Different

Good Morning and Happy Wednesday!

Another week at the half way point! Hope it's been a good one for you. We are having another humid heat wave so we've been inside again the last couple days. It's great for crafting time, but not so great for 2 kids with lots of energy! Hoping to get out at some point today.

I have something a little different to share with you today. I was cleaning out my closet yesterday and found this plain accordion fold chipboard book and so I've altered it and made it into a small desk frame for a photo. It was 5 or so folds long, but I cut it to 2 so that I can make another frame or some other item at a later time.

This is the front view of the outside of the frame...

My papers on this project are BG Capella and I just used some adhesive and glue to cover the book with the papers. Then I used a piece of satin ribbon to do the binding of the book/frame. The edges were sanded down with a sanding block to make them more smooth and even out any areas with an over hang of paper.

I've used a sweet hAnglar image and colored her with Copics and then cut her out and put her on my little tag accent. The tag was embossed with the CB folder tapestry and the bottom edge punched with the MS lace punch. I've embellished with a lace doily, flowers, chandelier gems, and some lace on the tag. The challenge at lovely hAnglar only was to use lace. I also used one of the Handmade Letter Seals from Whimsy Stamps for the sentiment.

Next is a view of the inside of the frame....

I used more BG Capella papers on the inside with another strip of satin ribbon for the binding. On the left side, I matted two pieces of card stock with distressed edges and glitter, then add a little clip. This is the side to add a small photo and with the clip, you can change out the photo often. On the right side I used another hAnlgar image, colored it with Copics and then cut it out and popped it up on foam tape. I've finished the inside with more flowers and chandelier gems. The distressed inside works for the challenge over at Cupcake Craft this week.

And last, is the view of the finished outside....

I stamped and framed another of the Handmade Letter Seals and extra sentiments and placed that alone on the back side of the frame. It's a nice finishing touch.

This project also fits the challenges at:
Sentimental Sundays: Switch It Up (try something new)
Simple Doodles: Get out of the box (I was thinking outside the box and didn't make a card, does that count?)
Polka Doodles: male or female
Paper Play: Anything Goes
Dutch Dare: Anything Goes

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you have a fabulous Wednesday!

A Bookmark

Good Afternoon!

Hope you're having a wonderful Tuesday. We ran errands this morning and did some clean up around the house, but I also managed to squeeze in some crafting time too.

With school about to start in a few short weeks, I've been wanting to make some back to school projects and today was inspired by the "Reading" challenge over at Copic Creations.

I decided to make a bookmark and have used this darling fairy image from Elizabeth Dulemba who is sponsoring the challenge. Elizabeth Dulemba is an award winning children's book author and illustrator and I think it's wonderful that she is sharing her artwork with us! Thanks for this beautiful image! More info and links to Elizabeth's website can be found on the Copic Creations blog.

I kept my bookmark fairly simple and just made the image the focal point. I've colored with Copics and highlighted with some glitter accents. The papers are BG Eva with some Razzleberry and Pink card stock from SU!. I finished off with a jumbo eyelet, some ribbons, and 2 fabric covered brads. And because this image is cute and girly, it fits the challenge over at Creative Card Crew too!

Thanks for dropping by today. Hope you have a fantastic afternoon and evening!

Miss Innocent

Hello and Happy Monday!

Hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend. We went up to the White Mountains here in NH on Saturday with my family. It was a great time! We got to hike and picnic near a river and also took the kids on an alpine slide down a mountain, that was FUN! And here we are at another Monday already, Boo Hoo!

Today I have a card to share using a new digital image available now at Whimsy Stamps. This one is called Miss Innocent and was lovingly drawn by Crissy Armstrong. I think any of us who have had a sweet little puppy have also come home to a not so sweet chewed up surprise!

This little sweetie has just chewed someone's pretty pink high heel pump! I've colored her with Copics and accented with glitter and a rhinestone sticky gem. I've used some BG Eva papers with chocolate and pink card stock. I put glitter on the edges of all my patterned papers. The image was matted on an oval nestie frame that was also embossed with the CB tapestry folder. I accented with ribbons and aster daisy flowers.

This card also fits the challenges at:
Friday Sketchers: sketch
One Stop Craft: patterns

Thanks for stopping over today. Be sure to head over to the Whimsy shop and see what other fun new images were released yesterday! Have a great day!
