Layers of Bold Color

Hi All!

Sadly, I have retired as a Layers of Color Designer. It was time for me to "pass the torch" on to someone new. I want to take a moment to thank Laura for allowing me the opportunity to design with her and the other talented gals for the last year and a half. I've loved my time with you Laura and I wish all you the very best in the future! Sending big hugs your way!

As this will be my last official DT post for Layers of Color, I wanted to share two cards that I created using a few of their newest stamp sets. Both of these cards are bold and fun and perfect for a feeling of warmth, which I think we all could use during these cold winter months!

This card uses the stamp sets Butterfly Collector and Flowering Gems. Both images where colored with Copics and then popped up to give some dimension to the card. The papers are BasicGrey and I've embellished with ribbon and sticky gems.

This next card is somewhat unique in that the background was created with shaving cream and reinkers. To do this, you need to put shaving cream on a paper plate, add on a few random drops of ink here and there in a few coordinating colors and then swirl the ink into the shaving cream with a popsicle stick or something similar. Then you place your paper down on the shaving cream mixture and press. Lift up and wipe the excess cream off and allow to dry. What you are left with is an almost tie-died effect for a design.

Once the background piece on this card was dry, I stamped on some flowers from the set Nature Walk and then some butterflies from the set Flutterescent. The sentiment was designed by my friend Ann and has been framed with circle Nestabilities. And the popped up butterfly was colored with Copics and glued on. I've embellished with Prima flowers, buttons, ribbon, hemp twine and a butterfly charm.

Thanks for dropping by today. Hope you have a great day! Happy Stamping! :)

Fluttering

Good Morning,

I have a busy day of cleaning and organizing, but I wanted to share a card before I get to any of that. My hubby is painting my craftroom/office for me and then I will get in there and reorganize. I just might have some blog candy soon...depending on what I find while cleaning! LOL! So stay tuned for that later this week!

This card is one I made for DT work with Layers of Color. I actually created it some time ago, but this is the first chance I've had to share it. This card uses the stamp set Flutterescent, which was released this past Autumn and an older set Nature Walk.

I went for a monochromatic blue and cream color palette with a vintage feel. I created my own decorative papers using the stamps to create the backgrounds. I also used two Stampin' Up! background stamps over the Layers of Color images. I've embellished with brads, ribbon, and a flower. I wanted to keep the focus on the images, so I keep this card clean and simple.

Thanks for dropping by today! Hope you have a super Saturday. See you back here tomorrow for our Whimsy Stamps new release blog hop! Happy Stamping! :)

Some White French Hens

Happy Tuesday!

Hope you are having a good day today! I have another busy day with errands and chores around the house to finish. But before I get to all of that, I do have a card to share with you.

Yesterday was the 3rd day of Christmas celebration over at Cuttlebug Challenges and Layers of Color is sponsoring with a donation of 3 of their Rise and Shine art stamp sets! To enter to win a free stamp set all you need to do is visit Layers of Color and sign up for their newsletter and follow their blog to stay up to date on the lasted information. Then hop back over to Cuttlebug Challenges and leave them a comment saying that you have done these two things and you are entered. Pretty easy!

I've created this white on white version of 3 French Hens using the Rise and Shine stamp set and my Cuttlebug and snowflake embossing folder.

I've distressed the edges of all the layers so that it makes the white on white easier to see and I like the texture too. The layers have been embossed and then sprayed with glimmer mist. I created faux snow under the chicks with glitter and glue. Then embellished with ribbons, acetate and glitter snowflakes, and rhinestone and pearl sticky gems.

This card also fits the challenges at:
Sketch Saturday: sketch/layout
Stamptacular Sunday: No red or Green Holiday cards
The Pink Elephant: Winter/Christmas
Kaboodle Doodles: Sparkling Winter
Secret Crafter: Snow

Thanks for popping on by today! If you get a minute, please check out the Cuttlebug Challenge and visit Layers of Color! Have a great day, happy stamping! :)

3 French Hens

Hello All!

Happy Thursday to you! This week is just flying on by, probably because I have yet to do a stitch of holiday shopping and my days are dwindling down! Hope you are having a good week.

Today I have a card to share for a Layers of Color DT project and some challenges. I created my card using the sweet little chick stamps from the set Rise and Shine. They are my 3 French Hens! My chicks were colored with copics and then I created some snow underneath them with glue and glitter.

I've created a holiday card with some non-traditional holiday colors to fit the challenge at A Spoon Full of Sugar. I used some SU! Night of Navy and Black card stock with papers from Graphic 45. My layout is from this week's ICS#45 at Inspirational Card Sketches. I embellished with with some black sticky gems, lace ribbon, and a Prima flower with a rose center which I sprayed with some Glimmer Mist to add shimmer.

Thanks for dropping by today! Don't forget to check out Whimsy Stamps for a link to today's special blog where you can find today's Advent prize! Happy stamping! :)

Layer of Color Saturday - Backyard Birds

Good Morning!

Hope you are having a good weekend. We are staying in with sick kids, so I'm hoping to have some crafting time while they rest and nap. Then maybe I'll take my own nap!

Today I have a card to share that I made using the new Layers of Color stamp sets, Backyard Birds and Nature Walk. Both of these sets work great for any type of card, but I used them for a birthday card for my mother in law.

I've used some BasicGrey Wisteria papers and distressed all of the edges. I made the flowers with the flower stamps from Nature Walk and colored with with Twinkling H2Os to give them some shimmer and added pearls to the centers. The image was stamped with Memento ink and colored with Copics and then I added some flower soft to the tree branch for some texture. My final embellishment was a piece of hodgepodge hardware to accent the image piece.

Both of these stamp sets are now available in the Layers of Color online boutique. You can also find more samples using these stamps in the online gallery. Lots and lots of beautiful ideas for these stamps!

Thanks for dropping by, enjoy your weekend! Happy stamping! :)

A Holiday Project and Card

Happy Almost Friday!!!

Hope your Thursday is off to a great start! I have a couple crafting projects to finish up but other than that, today should be a quiet day. Looking forward to that!

I have two projects to share with you today. The first is a hand made luminary. I had a lot of fun making this, well other than the trouble cutting through multiple pieces of paper with the Cuttlebug, but it worked out in the end.

I created this for my work at Paper Maniac. All month long the team has been sharing different holiday decor and project ideas. I actually got this idea from my friend Janna, but simplified my luminary. I've used one piece of card stock cut to 6 x 11 inches and scored at 3.5, 7, and 10.5 inches. I've decorated with more card stock and some designer paper. I stamped a reindeer from Layers of Color on the vellum and attached it to the inside of the luminary. Then just folded into a triangle shape and glued it together. I embellished with Prima flowers.

Next I have a card to share using a new Doodle Palace image called Holiday Mail. I've paired this fun image with some BasicGrey Eskimo Kisses paper and SU! card stock.

I've colored with Copics and added some Spica glitter pen highlights and faux snow with some glitter and glue. The layout is from this week's Inspirational Card Sketches challenge. I embellished with some sticky rhinestones, a felt snowflake, ribbon, and a button. This card also fits the "Four Seasons" challenge at Secret Crafter and the use a digi image challenge at Cupcake Craft.

Thanks for dropping on by today, hope you have a great day! Happy stamping! :)

Layers of Color Sneak Peek

Morning!

Hope you're having a nice weekend. It's been chilly here, so I've been inside stamping and doing some house cleaning. Not a bad weekend!

Today I have a card to share, which is a sneak peek at a couple new Layers of Color stamp sets! Layers of Color has a big Autumn release planned for next weekend but in the mean time, the LOC designers will be sharing some artwork using the new stamps as a way to give you a preview. And right now, Layers of Color is celebrating with a big release party complete with awesome prizes and free digi party favors. Head on over to the LOC blog now to enter for your chance to win! And while you're there you can download your free digital image!

Here is my sneak peek using the new stamp sets Rise and Shine and Merci Bouquet. I chose to use these three adorable chick stamps for my main image and then I used the chicken wire stamp to create a background page and I added a couple flowers to soften the chicken wire and add some color.

My images were colored with watercolor crayons and a paintbrush. I was going for a vintage/country feel, so I distressed all the edges with a pair of scissors. The papers are Riding Hood Red and Black cardstock with K and Company printed red paper. I've embellished with Prima flowers, buttons, ribbon, brads, hemp twine, and hand made flowers.

Thanks for dropping by today. I'm off to make a couple more cards. Hope you have a great day! Be sure to check out the rest of the Layers of Color party details and enter for your chance to win some free stamps! Hope to see you at the party next weekend!

It's a Reindeer Waltz

***For the Whimsy Blog Stroll, please click HERE***

Hi All!

I hope you are having a good weekend! It's a little later than usually for me to be posting but things have been busy at our house today. It's been another rainy day so we've been cleaning up and I did a little stamping too!

I wanted to share some news with you. Layers of Color will be holding a big party in November to celebrate the release of a new beautiful collection of clear art stamps! The party will kick off on the 14th and run through the 15th with amazing prize drawings totaling $250! Plus, if you "attend" the party, you will receive a free digital stamp party favor, get to see beautiful creations from the design team for your visual delight, and have fun meeting new people! I hope you'll come and celebrate with us and be sure to invite your friends too, all are welcome!

I wanted to leave you with some Layers of Color holiday inspiration! I've created this card using the beautiful Reindeer Waltz stamp set and some of my new favorite BasicGrey Eskimo Kisses papers.

I've embossed my bottom layer with the snowflake CB folder and then added some swirly printed paper to match the swirls in the reindeer image. I love the elegant details in this image. I've embellished with a felt snowflake and a button and snowflake charm. I added some soft pink snowflakes and a sentiment both from the SU! set Short and Sweet. It's a very snow filled card!

Thanks for dropping by tonight! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! Happy Stamping!

Layers of Color Christmas

Hi All!

Hope your Thursday is going well! I've been busy stamping all day and doing some DT work. I like days when I can stay busy and look at the clock and it's time for dinner! I should be cooking, but instead I'm going to quickly share a couple cards. Hubby isn't home yet anyway!

I made these using some Layers of Color stamps and both are for Christmas. The first card uses the set Birdday Party. This set was designed as a birthday set, but I think the presents work for the holidays too.

I used brown, red, and olive papers. The image was stamped and colored and then I laid on the olive paper which I ripped "open" to reveal the image. I kept this card pretty clean and simple, just added some ribbon, paper piercing and a brad.

This next card uses the set Reindeer Waltz. I love the pretty scroll work and designs inside the reindeer images. So I played that up by embossing the image in white EP with my heat gun. The papers are beige and blues and I scalloped the edge on either side of the center image. The only embellishment is some wide striped ribbon and gel pen dots.

Thanks for stopping by tonight. Have a great night. See you back here tomorrow for Stamp Something and Just Magnolia! Happy Stamping! :)

Layers of Color Saturday - Fleur Heart

Hello All!

Happy weekend! It's a holiday weekend here in the States and so the kids and hubby will be home for three days. It'll be nice to have some relaxing family time after this hectic first week back to school. Hope you all have something fun planned!

I have a quick card to share today, one I made using some Layers of Color stamps. I pulled out my Fleur Heart set and used some of the images to create a background.

I paired the scroll heart design with a french script background to create this old world/vintage card. I used a printed transparency from my friend Vicki as the main image. I just mounted it on some cardstock to make the images more visible. I've embellished with pewter hardware, a bead, some Prima flowers and buttons, and some twill tape and hemp twine. The sentiment has been framed using some oval EK Success punches.

Thanks for dropping by today. Hope you have a great weekend! Happy stamping. :)

Layers of Color Saturday - Under the Sea

Hello All and happy Saturday!

Hope everyone is enjoying another weekend. We are in the midst of another super humid day here and I'm sure we'll be getting more thunderstorms later. We had some bad ones last night. We are hoping to get in some fun outside with the kids before the storms though. Hope you have fun things planned too!

I want to share two cards today from my Layers of Color gallery. Both of these card use the stamp set Under the Sea which can be purchased from the Layer of Color online shop. This is a versatile set to use for focal images or to create backgrounds. I used it for the focal images on both cards.

This first card uses a coral image which I stamped in black ink and embellished with sticky pearls. It's been framed with scalloped rectangle nesties. The white cardstock layer has been dry embossed with the CB and a script embossing folder. The final touch was to add some pretty satin ribbon and a charm with hemp twine.

The second card is also black and white but with a little punch of color. I found a piece of retired SU! Cool Caribbean cardstock and thought it was perfect with a sea shell image. The white cardstock layer on this card was dry embossed with the CB and Swiss dots folder. The final touches are a simple piece of black ribbon and a black brad.

Thanks for stopping over today. I'll be back tomorrow with a DT card for this week's Pile It On challenge. Have a super Saturday! Happy stamping! :)

Layers of Color Saturdays

Happy Saturday!

I don't typically post on Saturdays, but I'm going to start sharing Layers of Color creations every Saturday. I design with these stamps and mail my projects to Layers of Color and then sometimes forget to actually share what I've made. I'm hoping a weekly post we keep me on my toes and help me to remember to share!

These two cards I have today both have dry embossed layers that were created using my Cuttlebug and embossing folders. This first one uses the Swirls folder and the color combo of black, white, and purple. I embellished with this fun music note ribbon to match the music notes in the sentiment.

This second card uses the embossing folder Paisley and the colors of Groovy Guava and Regal Rose. Both of these cards use the same stamp set, Birdday Party available at the Layers of Colors online boutique. I embellished this card with a pretty striped ribbon, eyelets, dew drops, and glitter glue.

Thanks for stopping by today, enjoy the rest of your day. I'll be back tomorrow with a new Pile It On! challenge card. Happy stamping! :)

Layers of Color Celebrates One Year!

Happy Birthday Layers of Color!

Today I have a card to share that I made using my Layers of Color art stamps and a fun celebration sketch! Layers of Color is celebrating their first year as an art stamp company!

And to celebrate this big event, our DT member Patter is hosting a challenge all week long on her challenge site, Triple the Sketch and LOC will be offering up some great gifts for participants in the challenge. Laura, the owner of LOC, will be drawing the winners and giving away 3 fantastic prizes. These prizes will include a $50 LOC gift certificate, a prize of 3 acrylic blocks in various sizes, and lastly a prize of 3 Tsukineko Brilliance tear drop ink pads! How fabulous is that and all you have to do for a chance to win, is play along with the challenge and make a card, tag, or scrap book page using Sketch 65 over at Triple the Sketch.

This is my take on the sketch...

I started with some SU! Pink Pirouette and Baja Breeze cardstock that I thought matched perfectly with this polka dot patterned paper from BasicGrey's Two Scoops! I then used my Polka Dot Parade and Polka Dot Love stamp sets to keep with the polka dot theme. You can find both of these stamp sets and many more in the Layers of Color Boutique, HERE.

The images have been either stamped with Baja ink or colored with Copic markers. The edges of the papers have been distressed with a distressing tool, but you can use the blade of your scissors to create the same effect. I used the SU! eyelet punch to create the border and added Prima flowers for embellishments.

Thanks for popping on over today. Take a jump over to the Layers of Color shop too see all of their fabulous stamps and hop on over to Triple the Sketch to join us in the One Year Anniversary Celebration!

Happy stamping! :)

Something Different

Hi All,

Hope you're having a good day. I've had some time to stamp this morning and made a card that's a little bit different from what I typically create. This one is not for any challenges and doesn't use a specific sketch or theme.

I have been neglecting my Layers of Colors stamps, so I grabbed some of those and some retired Stampin' Up! designer paper and created this card.

I used the entwined roses for the main image, they are from the set Renaissance Hearts, it's probably one of my favorite LOC stamps. I stamped the image on vellum, colored with copics, and then adhered to the vanilla paper upside down to create a softer look. Using some white craft ink, I stamped some bubble swirls from the set Dotted Delights onto another piece of vellum and flipped that over as well and adhered that to the second layer. The embellishments are distressed edges and vanilla brads.

Thanks for stopping by. I'm going to get back to some crafting while my daughter is coloring some digi images. Have a great day, happy stamping! :)

Two Layers of Color Cards

HI All!

Still away on vacation....

...but here are two cards I made for the Layers of Color gallery recently!

This one uses the stamps are from Renaissance Hearts and Fleur Hearts stamp sets. The colors are Soft Sky, Baja Breeze, and black with splashes of hot pink. The DSP is from a pack I've had, not sure of the name. I did some stitching on the main panel and added some sticky gems. The flowers are Primas with pearl centers. The sentiment is Whimsy Simply Said.

This next card is more for the Holidays using the stamps from the Birdday Party stamp set.

I masked a circle area and sponged on Soft Sky ink to create an ornament effect. Then stamped the birds and music notes. The sentiment is from SU!. I used a white gel pen to create some faux stitching doodles.

Thanks for looking! :) Check back tomorrow for another Stamp Something challenge!

Sketch Something

Good morning, happy Friday!!

Oh, I love Fridays! Another week over and the weekend on the way! Hope you all have some fun things planned! Today also means a new challenge over on Stamp Something! And this week we have a sketch for you, created by our DT member Emily! Thanks Emily! We also have Layers of Color as our sponsor this week and they have generously donated 3 stamp sets for one lucky participant! Head over to Stamp Something to check everything out and be sure to take a look at all the fantastic DT samples too!

The card I made for the challenge uses the stamp set Polka Dot Love, from Layers of Color. It's a great set for creating backgrounds as well as focal images! I had fun pairing it with some Urban Prairie paper from BasicGrey.

The cardstock colors are SU! Riding Hood Red, Baja Breeze, and Black. I used one piece of the BasicGrey paper and then stamped some floral images to create some of my own patterned papers. I also embossed one layer with the Swiss Dots folder and my CB. The final layer is the main image which is individual flower petals and a thank you sentiment.

I hope you'll join us this week and try for a chance at this great blog candy prize! Have a fabulous weekend. Happy Stamping!! :)

Layers of Color - Sunflower Squares

Good Monday morning,

Hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend and that your new week is off to a good start! I only have a few minutes this morning for some blogging and email and then it's off to do laundry and clean up the house. Ahhh, Mondays!

I wanted to share this card I made using Layers of Color stamps. I'm particularly proud of this one as it was just published in the latest issue of Just Cards! Magazine. It was a nice surprise to receive that free issue in the mail and see my card on one of the pages!

I love this stamp set too, it's called Architectural Blocks and it's available at Layers of Color. I used watercolor wonder crayons and an aquapainter to color this image. The papers are all SU! cardstocks in Artichoke, Saffron, and Chocolate Chip. I added a piece of chocolate ribbon for some added detail. It's a simple card, yet I think it still has a lot of interest.

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you have a great Monday! Happy Stamping! :)

Layers of Color - Sweet and Simple

Morning!

I have a quick post today and then it's back to my save the dates project. Hope you're all having a great day!

This is a card I made using Layers of Color art stamps. Laura, the owner of Layers of Color recently released new stamp sets to add to her clear art stamp collection. Her stamps are very intricate and beautiful and they work well for many different types of stamping projects. You can see the new stamps here.

The card I made uses the mouse from Polka Dot Parade. Isn't he cute! First, I used my frame embossing folder and Cuttlebug to create this simple hanging picture detail. Then I stamped the mouse inside the frame, colored him with Copics and added white gel pen and crystal effects to the strawberry seeds for some added detail.

I mounted the white cardstock to a piece of Riding Hood Red cardstock and then added a tiny dew drop bead to the center of the embossed ribbon. The sentiment is also from this same stamp set, Polka Dot Parade.

And there you have it, a simply sweet card to say thank you. Have a wonderful day. Happy Stamping!! :)

Layers of Color Monday - For Baby

Hi All!

Hope everyone is off to a good start this week. We're home, snowed in again! It's fine though, my son is off from school and maybe we will all get a chance to play outside as it's suppose to be a little warmer today. If you call 30 degrees warm, which with the temps we've had lately, that's like a heat wave!

I have a couple cards to share today that I made using some brand new Layers of Color stamps! Layers of Color just released 11 new stamp sets to add to their collection of clear art stamps. For my cards, I used the new set Polka Dot Parade. It's a fun stamp set, which I find perfect for baby projects. So I made two cards, one for a baby girl and one for a baby boy.

This is my It's a Girl card using the giraffe stamp from Polka Dot Parade. I also used Parisian Summer DSP on this card and colored the giraffe to match. The cardstock colors are Pink Pirouette, Blush, and So Saffron. I did some paper piercing and added a photo corner and felt flower to the image piece. The final touches were brads, felt flowers, and a charm. The sentiment is from Short and Sweet, a SU! set.

This second card is Welcome Baby Boy and I used the elephant stamp from Polka Dot Parade. The striped paper is an old piece from a scrap kit I've had laying around unused. The cardstock colors are Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery. This is a more simple card as compared to the girl card, probably because I have a much harder time making masculine cards. The sentiment is the same as on the girl card.

It's funny, I had planned to share these cards today, but found out some news this morning that makes them very relevant! I want to wish someone special a big Congratulations! We are very excited! :)

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you'll take a hop on over to Layers of Color and check out all the new stamp sets and see some fantastic creations in the design team galleries.

Have a great Monday, happy stamping! :)
